Police Seek Jewelry Owner Following Vandalism at CT Cemetery

Police in Connecticut are seeking the owner of a piece of jewelry stolen by a juvenile who allegedly vandalized a cemetery, taking items from the gravesites.

The incident occurred in Windham County on Sunday, July 14, at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Killingly.

According to Connecticut State Police, troopers and Killingly Police responded to the cemetery on Maple Street after receiving a report of criminal mischief.

A witness reported someone causing damage to multiple grave sites in the cemetery and directed responding to the juvenile who was still within the cemetery. 

The juvenile was arrested following an on-scene investigation and charged with:

  • Criminal trespass 
  • Criminal mischief
  • Larceny 
  • Breach of peace
  • Interference with cemetery

At the time the juvenile was taken into custody, they were wearing a piece of jewelry that was taken from an unknown gravesite, police said.

The Killingly Police are seeking to identify the owner or family of the owner of the jewelry so that the property may be returned.
